(To B.)
the reason
and rejection to all reason.
He yields and yet whips
with unmerciful, childlike constancy.
He gives and he takes
as if balancing
word to action,
action to feeling,
feeling to wanting,
wanting to needing,
needing to mustness,
mustness to oblivion
in an infinite, unending litany
of compelling, somewhat useless word equations.
He loves yet he fears loving.
He crouches and prances
as if hunting
or to avoid being hunted.
He orders and he tackles and he yelps.
I kiss his lips full of brilliant utterances.
Man-child with a thousand reasons
to be.
